So, 8 days from now, Trent and I will be on our way to Kenya and Tanzania on a Civilized Adventures trip. I don't think 2 weeks is nearly long enough, but hopefully it will be long enough for Trent to fall in love and want to go back.
Our first day in Kenya, we meet the folks at the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust elephant orphanage - and I get to meet the elephant I'm fostering! Shimba is a gorgeous little boy who was orphaned at the tender age of 6 weeks old. The caregivers at Sheldrick found him standing on top of his dead mother, trying to rouse her. What a sorry sight :( He's blossomed at the orphanage and has quite an entourage, or so I'm told. He's a little troublemaker :) I'm looking forward to meeting him. And probably fostering another one before we leave!
We will see so much wildlife and have so many great experiences, I can't wait for it all to begin.
